I never clicked on realphx.com or the whoaa look what i found here ones because they took up the whole profile so it was obvious something was up. The one Axilla mentions though caught me by surprise because there was other information in the profile as well, so I clicked it. IE opened and I got the website but it didn't install automatically, I got the install prompt and clicked no. This brought up another prompt that said I have to click OK to download the program (as if I didn't know that). When I clicked on the OK or the X in that prompt it just brought me back to the install prompt and just kept cycling through these two, so I had to open up task manager and end task. But the point is it didnt automatically download the program...why not?

I don't know but this seems to happen a lot more then one would think. My Economics teacher somehow got caught in that loop, and he wasn't even on anything that I would have thought would cause something like this... He of course clicked okay after going through it about 10 times, while I just shook my head.

The computer had to restart for the settings to take effect so at that point it didn't really matter (as you would know based on a previous post). Now if that shouldn't be illegal I don't know what should be... Taking advantage of people that don't know about something...

On ethics one of my required class I have to take is ethics of engineering. I have not taken yet since it is a sr lv corse and I am still in the freshman trying to push my way hard to get caught up in time. But In my other engineering classes my teacher press the engineering ethics on us. From what I gathered in there as an engineer they go a little farther than they do in the law to make sure they are inforced. I know of you get your PE for engineering you risk loosing it if you break the ethic code of engineering plus you loose the support of you peers and with out hte backing of you engineering peers not like you work is really going to matter

Most professional organizations have a code of ethics that are enforced rigorously. For example, Bill Clinton was disbarred (or threatened to be disbarred) by Arkansas (I think) for his involvement in the White House Scandal. Yet, what he did, wasn't illegal (even though many people probably felt it should be).

My wife is licensed by the state of Texas as an Athletic Trainer and also holds National Certification by her profession's national governing body (Texas doesn't recognize the National Organizaiton even though they have more stringent requirements for Certification than the state). Each group has a code of ethics which if broken can cause a lot of trouble for your career.

The problem with a professional code of ethics is that they are often subjective and prone to the influences of what many would call the "Good Ole Boys Network". This especially holds true for women who have been treated un-ethically within the profession. They sometimes have a hard time seeing "justice" served because those making the decisions are old-school men.

Yeah I hate when it trys to install something on your computer automatically. I visited this one site trying to find a good wallpaper and it tried to install a virus on my computer. ( its a virus that sends them information and allows them to use parts of your computer. You know that you have it if you get pornography links put in your favorites.)

These sites should be taken down and action should be taken against them.

You could do something about it ... but it's only auto-downloading because of the way you have your security settings enabled within IE5+. Either that.. or it's a flaw within the system that allows it. Probably both.

how did i end up posting twice?

this thing is really annoying, about everyone i know got it. fortunatly i didn't. It uses a STILL not patched exploit in IE (even 6) which allows you to run any HTA application without IE asking permission. someone better patch this soon....everyone knows HTA files dont have any security restrictions right?

i was looking in my internet explorer stuff and i came across this... should i uncheck this???

the picture wouldnt post because spaces arent allowed in URL's. replace them with %20 (20 is the character number for a space in HEX)
