I wouldn't pay a penny for it... Alpha versions arn't exactly my favorite thing in the world with very few exceptions (like when the alphas really are finals but not named as such).
longhorn was out for download a LONG ASS time ago. i downloaded it months ago but never used it, cuz my friend said that on a 2 GHz pc, it will feel like a 400 MHz computer running windowsxp. and theres rumors that it will send nfo to m$ for antipirating reasons (u can crack it, but i didnt feel like going through the trouble just to try out a buggy'er os)

I think they are working on putting it in. THat can cause a lot of trouble for a lot of us. I be pretty temped to go mac and deal with the lack of software to show what I think of it. (and get a trust win emulator to get around the problem)

It's not rumor. It's fact.
Longhorn is going to be Micro$oft's first OS integrated with the Paladium initiative. If you've heard about their whole "Trusted Computing" scheme a while back ( http://discuss.big-o-software.com/viewtopic.php?t=1812 ), it explains everything.
The TCPA was founded 1999 by Compaq, HP, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. But in the meantime around 200 companies joined them. You will find Adobe, AMD, Fujitsu-Siemens, Gateway, Motorola, Samsung, Toshiba and many other well known companies. IBM already sells first desktops and notebooks with integrated TPM.
