the only problem with that is the only way to access the net at school is Sweeny has to go though the school network to access the net. Since it his personly computer they do not really care what is on his computer but they do care about when he uploads downloads and does over there network and believe me they can get everything you transmite over the net including you passwords with out much of a problem since they also pick up the eqution keys sent to your computer. Your personly firewall can not stop this from happening since they are picking it up in transite over there network

Even if that was true - It would be highly illegal for the College to look at it... There for I'm calling your bluff.

That what I was told by a my friend who works for the school and know there firewall system cold. The ecyction key is sent and the first and last data packet to you computer. The logs are stored under you ports location. They are not ever going to look at you passwords and stuff but it is perficly legal for them to keep track of what you do on the net where you go and what you send since you are using there network. They know when you are using program like Kazaa and the lags show it. They know if you are using bittorrent and all that stuff.

i have the old version on my site 4.8, www.jrrtt37.com but odds are you can't use it because your school has blocked all other ports cept for internet browsing.

Perhaps you didn't see the part where I said it would be illegal... That means even if they don't look at it...

It's like saying I shoplift a computer but then return it... They sure can still press charges...

College? I'm in high school. I'm pretty sure they still can't look at my passwords and such, but just thought to inform you. =D

You will be surpised. They are within there legal ground to look at you passwords and other stuff but if they start using that infomation you can sue them but you can not sue them for loging it and finding out what it is. It like if some used my computer to access there bank account. I can have a key logger running and then volla I have there password and everything. And I can have that knowleged perficly legaly and there is nouthing that person can do about it since they used my computer to do it I have the write to log and monitor what ever they do. Using a school network is the same pinciple. Plus they made sure in the documents you ahve to sign to use it that they are within there rights. If you read the fine print you will notics most school and collages make sure it in there. e

Mind you I know collages have ungoddly strong firewalls

you can have a school like mine where they make you sign a contract, and if you get caught doing anything against the contract, you automaticly fail any computer class that you have for the year.

I don't know... But my College allows us to go to any website we want as long as it's not porn, and as long as someone does not need a computer for work...

That tells me they can't look at any password unless it's from a porn site... And I don't think their going to screen traffic quite like that (They do have bandwidth controls though on all computers (ie The online testing computers get all they bandwidth they can use).

Since my CC is in the top 1%... I'm going to say it's fair to say they know what their doing...

High School is just a bit diffrent ;).

God HS was the worset. They got pissed if you look up stuff that was none school related. But there keeping track meathods whwe crap at best. Really sad when I learned the top admin name and password for one of the lab computers. From there I canned the background on the computer for the normal user to someing quite inapporant for HS. Just only if you where sign in at that standerad lv with no power. Took them a while to figure out how to fix it and what I did.

I though it was great since when I went into the lab later they had a sign on the computer that it was broken. It was great they never did figure out who did it to that computer

[rant]

Your the kid that takes the memory out of the case causing padlocks to be put on them... So the schools spends $300 on locks because you had to be a idiot...

Or the kid that steals the mouse ball... So they glue them shut... Now they don't work because they have too much dirt in them... Great...

Your the kid that I want to knock out for acting like a 7 year old...

I never took anything from the computers I consider that wrong. Hell what I did was wrong but it was funny as hell. The funny part is they did not change the admin passwords and stuff after that..... I still would log in under admin simple because I hated dealing with all the restition they put on the computers. It pretty much was to the point of heavy hampering what you could do in the programs we did use. A lot of the nice features in MS Word and that stuff.
