History problem

Post by xOInThoseJeansOx »

I know the history viewer isn't compatable with newer versions of AIM. Unfortunately I have the newer version. But I have an IM conversation saved with someone threatening me. I know this person and I know the threat was real. I need to obtain a copy of it to send to AOL and also to get an order of protection. Is there ANY way I can view these things?! IM me on AIM... xOInThoseJeansOx. Thanks.

But I have an IM conversation saved
if you have it saved then print it out, if she IMs you again, copy and paste the convo in WORD, or NOTEPAD for that matter, if you don't want to talk to her, then block her, thats why the buttons there.

this is what your 3rd post of the matter, and now it's not even in the right forum.

First off, if someone is threatening you.. why not just tell your parents, and if this person really is dangerous, and it's not just random High School "Drama" .. you could possibly file for a restraining order.

Second, as pointed out in another one of your duplicate posts, an AIM conversation would not be admissable as evidence in a court room. The History is nothing more than an HTML page, which are very easy to create. To answer your question, you can view the history without the history viewer. "Search" your computer for the location of where AIM+ stores the files and open it with Internet Explorer or any other program capable of opening HTML files.

Third and Last, even if you sent in the conversation to AOL, they would do nothing but laugh and delete your email.. mainly because their whole operation is run by a bunch of morons fresh out of high school that don't know squat.
But seriously, AIM is an unsupported program created by AOL. Hence why it is free. Free programs don't get support. For this reason, if you were to email them ... it's almost certain they wouldn't do anything about it.
Now on the other hand... if this happened on the AOL client program, since they have a TOS(Terms of Service), you could possibly get their screen name revoked for making threats and such, but it's still highly doubtful.

Oops.. Hahh. Ok, let me rephrase that. "Free Software created by AOL gets no support."

That better?
