Verification fails when SFV checksums contain uppercase

I have received SFV files (created by other programs) in which the checksums contain uppercase letters. hkSFV marks all the files as bad. When I create a SFV file using hkSFV the checksums only differ in the case of the letters (A-F) in the checksums. Is there a standard for this, and if so, is it the creator of these SFV files that is non-standard, or hkSFV?

In any case, shouldn't hkSFV be able to accommodate to this?

Sorry, but I finally found that the problem involves the checksums having a $ prefixed to them.
