Everytime I try to login to AIM, I input my SN and PW and it goes through step 1 "connecting" and step 2 "verifying user id and password" and then the screen disappears and the AIM icon drops down next to the clock. When I put the mouse over the icon and it disappears.
In addition, from the sign on screen, when I click setup, the preferences menu loads and then the same thing happens. The window closes and the icon moves down to the tray. When the mouse goes over the AIM icon, it disappears.
AIM does not actually loads!
I have tried updating, uninstalling and resinstalling and everything else I could think of. Any suggestions?

I am using an Emachines and running Windows XP.

its not the os, its the fact that you bought an emachine...

something is screwing w/ aim. uninstall deadaim, aim+, middleman, or watever aim related thing u got installed, then reinstall aim
