also the wire patterns in the cable differ from data to voice. just because its "CAT5" doesnt mean you can just plug it in and watch it work.

okay. i tried it for the hell of it and when i plug the ethernet cable into any of the jacks i re-did my phone goes kaput. i still have internet, just no phone...

i'm better off going wireless i know....but say i take the other end before it goes into the phone box, and i don't let it go into the phone box, i wire that to a hub....would it work?

yes, if you do the right sequence of the cables on both sides, it should work
