How Do You Get Rid Of The AOL ads on aim+'s buddy list

I re-installed aim+ alongside the aim version 4.8.2790 because i hate having the "aol ads" along the top and bottom of the buddy-list window, yet for some odd reason, they're popping up. this has never happened before and I've used 4.8.2790 for over two years and can't figure out what;s gone wrong. any suggestions?

why people want to use a old version of 4.8 idk, then again, i don't use aim. so poop on that, and yes, i said poop.

That's not the point.
And... No I'm not willing to pay for DeadAIM - But I guess that isn't a issue since I have no intrest in using it either (after (legally) using the current version).
