WinXP and sound

Post by iSteve530 »

in AIM with or without AIM+, under Windows Xp, when I lock the pc or go to the welcome screen, AIM automatically puts up the default away message. However, when I unlock the pc, sound for AIM no longer works until I exit AIM and restart AIM.

Does this happen to you? Do you know a work around? Would love to know if I am the only one or not. I have seen this happen on at least one other WinXP machine.

i believe this can be fixed by removeing the windows session logoff away message in your AIM prefs. i also know i have seen it some place in teh reg but i cannot remember off the top of my head. try the simple way and if it doesnt work ill look into doing it in the reg.

umm, i really think this is a useful feature though . . .

it is a useful feature, however, I want my sound back when I log back on. So, it is not working correctly. Deleted the default away message does not work, on unlock, sound is gone.

iSteve530: Just a wild guess, but maybe after you unlock, you could set yourself Away, then set your self Back again.. see if that helps?

Quite certainly it's an AIM bug, based on what you've told me. :)

Glad you've now got a quicker fix to the problem..

Nemessis,
Did you switch back to another OS? Why don't you see the bug anymore?
