grr..... no record setting anytime soon for me. I have had a new internet service for a little over a day (finally online at the apartment since I'm no longer on campus). Until about 3 hours ago I was lucky to stay connected for five mins! Now its almost an hour before I get disconnected. Kinda sucks, but after getting some help, we determined the problem is with my computer, not the isp. For some reason my computer won't send the packets... don't know why either, although there are some ideas.

Anyway... guess my record of (and actually verifiable through picture) 7 days, 2 hours, 42 mins. will stand for a while. I'm sure its higher than that thanks to campus, but can't verify or recall :(

I don't know if this applies to you, but M$ came out and said that their latest SP for XP caused problems with some people's ISP's. They ended up having to pull the SP

I think my best is something like 1 day 4 hours before I crashed my computer or I chose to reboot.... And the only reason it was over a day was I had the house to my self. I dont see it being beaten anytime soon since I will not have a desktop next year as of right now....

(edit hey cool I just moved up a rant with the post))

thats one nice connection...my cable goes out at least once every 8-10 weeks or so, even if its just for a few minutes...8 months of computer uptime is pretty nice too.

Mine never has.

I've only had two IPs since I've gotten this cable modem--and I got it four years ago.

dang, that's quite impressive:D with san antonio's history of random strong storms, we go down sometimes :/ they've been doing lots of upgrades and changes the past 1.5-2 years because business has exploded and they can't handle it, should be pretty much complete with the big upgrades and makign headroom stuff in about 4-5 months or so...still has great uptime for me though, not a bad service at all:D DSL=the suckage here, so all my friends with it have constant problems :/

Hey, Optimum Online didn't get rated as one of the top ISP's four years running for no reason.

(I think it's four years running...)

Ours here (Tampa Bay RoadRunner) has pretty good uptime too. We've manages to keep the same IP for about a year now. But just lately within the last few days, they've been doing mantainence..which actually kicked my house offline, and we got a new IP address when we reconnected!

Good thing I've had my server off while switching over to Linux.
