Re: hkSFV and Windows 7

The progam appears to work, however Windows Explorer integration (right-click -> hkSFV -> create) is no longer functional Forcing hkSFV to run in compatibility mode seems to fix this, but it will also cause the UAC Prompt to appear each time you launch hkSFV. If you'd like to try this workaround, t...

Re: Running hkSFV in the background

is it possible to run hkSFV in the background? Not really, but if you've enabled the "Reuse Window" option (Preferences:General) you can execute hkSFV.exe repeatedly and your tasks will be queued up if one is in progress. However, the hkSFV window will try to come to the foreground whenev...

Unfortunately, all of my installers to date have been unaware of multi-user setups. The easiest solution for most people is to install the software once for each user that needs to use it. If any developers have good links/articles about designing software for multi-user windows setups, I would real...

Muse.net isn't free -- it's 20$/yr.

It is also just for audio and video files.

It won't work for sharing music between two people. It's designed to give you access to your music from anywhere. Only one person can be listening to music from a collection at a time. So, two/more people can't pool their music together very effectively at all. I'd like to have my music shared for a...

http://www.muse.net/ Here's another piece of software that I've been using for less than a day, but has really impressed me. If you regularly travel or use computers in more than once place (work & home/school, for example), you should definitely be checking this out. It gives you one combined v...

I've been using it for less than 12 hours, but I'm impressed so far.

Has anybody else tried it?

I really liked the print advertisement that they ran recently (for 'Angel of Darkness') that showed Lara Croft's reflection in the pool of blood that was dripping off her hands (I couldn't find a picture of it online). I like her new goth look.. But, yeah, the renders of her that they used fo...

If you still have the SFV/MD5 around, do the files that fail have a real crc or md5 value, or is it 00000000 (or ????????, etc)? (right click on the failed file in hkSFV to see it's checksum)

I've gotten the "server not found" error quite a bit when I head to the forums, recently -- but refreshing the page quickly took care of it almost every time, so I haven't really worried about it..

No clue what the cause is, either.

I could probably add more keyboard shotcuts to menu options..

Thank you for providing that info with the bug report, it often helps. Could you provide a more detailed description of what exactly is going on? You can attach the md5, or list the files as they were named, are named, should be named, etc. The more information -- the better. :) For clarity's sake, ...

The short answer : MD5 is a better method for verifying your files, and I'd recommend it to most people. The only advantage to SFV is that is still more widely known, and its file format is more standardized. The long answer: An SFV and an MD5 serve the exact same purpose, and the formats are almos...
