If you can hook your DVD player up to your TV set with say, an S-Video wire, then WHY couldnt you just hook that S-Video cable into your VCR and pretty the record button? Macrovision is a technology that prevents exactly what you described. When a video signal encoded with Macrovision is recorded b...

As Mark said, JPGs are simply not included when creating SFVs or MD5s by default. If you want to verify these files, there isn't any reason not to -- they are often exluded when creating an SFV for an mp3 album or a set of RAR files, but they don't have to be. The list of excluded file types (done b...

The problem that Wasted is having is simply that it's an enhanced CD. It doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the copy protection. If you have an audio CD that also has a data track, a lot of computer CDDA software won't recognize it (it sees the data, and decides it's data, obviously). Try...

It seems that many windows programs that use MD5s have taken the liberty of creating their own file format. MD5 supports the most common formats (there is a pretty well established format for md5's on *nix systems using the md5sum tool). Since MD5 files usually have no header, I'm not sure how I'm g...

This looks like something that needs to be fixed. When you're checking an SFV/MD5 file, it's quite common to be unable to access the file (if you're still downloading, etc) and therefore a warning would be cumbersome. But, when creating a checksum file, it does seem like there should be a warning wh...

Diogo Quintela, thank you for these bug reports. Right now, you need to install hkSFV for each user that wants to use it on an NT/XP machine. It's simply because the installer only installs the registry keys for the 'current user', so you can re-install to the same place and be fine (alternately, yo...

I think it looks pretty gorgeous, from what I've seen (I haven't played it yet, but I've watched a couple people playing for very short amounts of time). I read an interview where Miyamoto explained some of the reasons why he decided on this style, and it was pretty impressive. He didn't cite 'the w...
