Free Encryption key generator?
I know that openssl can create these keys needed for encrypted aim... but cmon!! that is a whole lot of work. I couldnt find any guides that were written just for creating keys for aim.
does anyone know of a site that has simplified information on this subject? I dont have 4 hours to read openssl docs

Didn't work for me, either. It gave me an error that said "Importing failed for unknown reasons." Not that I would really gain anything from encrypting my conversations, anyway. Who would?

You can gain the feeling of security. Knowing that if someone were to intercept your communications with another person, and try to do something with it... it would be encrypted, so it'll be Hell of a lot harder for them, if not impossible.Sweeney wrote:Didn't work for me, either. there is a gain.
Programs like this scare me:

Cryptography gives me a better sense that my communitcaion is not being intercepted.

that error usually means that you didnt type in a pass when importing it on aim or u typed the password wrong (the 2nd time, the single blank one). I get this errorSweeney wrote:Didn't work for me, either. It gave me an error that said "Importing failed for unknown reasons." Importing a certificate failed because the issuer is not included in the certificate.
Lmao, I have conversations that no one would understand...literally. My conversations are encrypted before I type them. I talk about llamas, oranges, food, and such. Now, maybe if I was some sort of top secret general, giving the launch codes...I wouldn't use AIM.x Wasted Mind x wrote: You can gain the feeling of security. Anything can have spyware if you know how to do it right. I got my cert before that site was up anyway. Go to www.thawte.com ... It's a pain, but its a completely unique cert, unlike the one you would get from aimencrypt.com.AIMAwayMessages wrote:Ummmm, No. How could a security certificate have spyware

Re: there is a gain.
despite the fact that 1) most AIM addons log anyway 2) encryption wont do anything for local logging and 3) if your computer is privvy to anyone reading your convos, should you really be having something so tip top secret on it?eyeareque wrote:Programs like this scare me:

Instructions to create self-signed certificate
eyeareque, here are some instructions to create your own self-signed certificate for AIM. You don't need anything special, I put up the binary that allows you to do it with OpenSSL.
After you create the .p12 package that AIM accepts, then you just import it tell me what you think. URL is at
http://secure.sylikc.net:8080/self_signed
or just http://sylikc.net/?secure, and find the HOWTO on the bottom.
Now then you won't have to use AIMEncrypt.com's certificate or go to thawte to get one. DIY
