IM Placement

GAIM style buddy windows
gaim is nice in it lets you have one "window" that has multiple "tabs" (each tab represents a different IM window).... that'd be amazing[/code]
one easy way of doing it might be similar to mirc's window placement method...
in each IM you could give an option to remember its position, reposition the window to its remembered position, and forget its remembered position. this way you wouldnt have to bother with typing in coordinates; it's just a simple click. you could also add to the buddylist a main function to remember -all- IM positions, forget all IM positions, and reposition all IM positions.
also useful may be a "default" window position option, where windows with no remembered positions will open, (or open cascadingly perhaps), or a "remember last" window position option, where the windows with no remembered positions will automatically open where they were last closed. (this option could make it unnecessary for the user to manually select positions for the window to remember, depending on how much control the user wants.)
unfortunately, implementing all of these will increase program size and complexity, while implementing only some of these will leave out some features that some users would like. in my case, i'd say simpler is better, but lets see what other people have to say...

There's a seperate thread on multi-tabbed windows here:
http://discuss.big-o-software.com/viewtopic.php?t=10
The people want multi-tabbed windows and all their chat windows popping up in the same place ... to each his (or her!) own :). Both are good ideas, though.
