This next one I find found humorous..
Largest, Fastest, most Reliable DIAL UP network. :o
(Dial up users always get kicked offline)

I am willing to bet that you have cable so I will overlook that part. When I am at home, I never get kicked offline for no reason. Usually it is when someone calls, and now I have the option of picking up the phone or not. And for awhile, it wasn't the eaisest thing to do getting online. I remember one day waiting for an hour to get online when I had like 6 numbers to go through each time. For maybe the past 3 or so years, I have yet to have a problem getting online at home. I think the longest its taken me is probably 5 minutes, which is nothing, and I always usually get connected by using the first number. So lets not go an start bad mouthing AOL because it is the "big, mean company" and like whosurdaddy said, they make AIM, so if not for them, this site would not exist.

MSN beats AOl by 1000 times (=

Post by JeRSeY HeAvEn 823 »

AOL does suck. I cant stand it. I only use AOL to listen to their radio which is cool. 90% of all chatrooms got those porno bots. It terrible. What if a kid 12 yrs old goes to a chatroom and u see those bots talking dirty. I use MSN and I had never had a problem with it. I can keep my PC on all night and MSN is still going strong. AOL is slow and never loads large size websites, and it takes up way too much RAM. Not everyone got nice Pc's out there, I'd stick with MSN plus you pay 2 bux less a month :D

aol does pretty much have a horrible browser..i understand people use it for their user friendlyness..but i hate it..i cant imagine paying that much for a bad service.. way back in the days.. aol was horrible.. i dont know if they still have programs for punting and what not.. but with version 3.0 and 2.5 there was..by the way..that was the last time i was on aol, with the 2.5 and 3.0 version.. right now i have dsl, aim for talking, irc for chatroom and files, google.com for everything else :D

My friends little brother is 12 years old.. he curses all the time..i dont think porno bots in chat rooms would affect him

Yes, it does.. aside from the fact it used to use Internet Explorer, which was modified as an AOL browser.. it couldn't load huge Javascripts...always had errors.. etc.

Now with AOL8 they use Netscape Navigator.. :-? which is far worse than IE ..as far as supporting scripting languages and displaying web sites properly.

see aol's parental controls are great for browsing the web until you get a kid who has parents that are strict when the kid is say, 14 and you put them in the "young teen" or "teen" catagory

modern teens may figure out that all they have to do is minimize aol and goto internet explorer, or mozilla or some external browser and aol'sparental controls go out the window
or they can just teach their little brothers and sisters the exact same thing

Hell, when I was 14, I was using my first computer(well actually my dads).. a Pentium 150 with 32MB of RAM.. heh..and I had the parental controls locked down on me.. I was set to TEEN(i think)

I didnt know squat, meaning the fact I didnt know I could go outside of AOL to browse. I was clueless! Most younger kids that are computer illiterate dont know that as well.. even my friend who is 19 is clueless. She still asks me why I browse with IE, instead of the AOL browser! :P

AOL does suck but unfortunately we NEED AIM. I dont have parental controls though, im the only one who can operate the computer at a high level. Besides i dont waste my time on the internet watching porn. I rather spend time playing games.

By the way, that 35 million user thing for aol or watever, i make up 50 of those cuz i have 50 aim screennames. So as we know you can divide that number by around 7 cuz we all get 7 screennames for one account. We are down to 5 Million users...and those are quickly leaving for cable because its only like 99 cents more thant AOL dial-up. Thats if you can get that, where i live we can so...i hardly hear anyone saying..."Can I borrow an AOL CD?"

Its kinda awkward AOL ditched Microsoft for a netscape browser..haha

Sorry but the 35 million users are actually AOL accounts. NOT AIM accounts...and they arent talking about different screen names..their talking about "Individual" accounts. You can only have One(1) account. But you can have up to what I believe is 7 screen names.. under that One Account.

I used to have AOL. We change over from AT&T dail up to aol because aol was free for a year for us. GOD damn did I hate aol from the get go. First it was slower than AT&T. On top of that it did not like me using napster and it had a bad habit of discounting a lot in the middle of downloads. Yes is does take god offly long to get mp3 on dail up. Then there was the busy siginals I would get. the aol browers suck ass. which was a good part of the reason I never used it. I would just log in and close the window. Also most of the IMs I got though aol was just porn site link. Another proble was I was getting bout 10 junk emails a day to porn site alone that not counting the rest of the JUNK MAIL I GOT. After our free year was up we got DSL. I love it. And the funny part was it ouly costed my family $10 more a month. We were paying almost $30 a month for AOL and our dsl is less the 40 a month now the only time I get disk connect is when some trip over the phone cord and pulls it out of the wall. AOL should burn in hell

The only good think that aol has brought to the would is Instance messageing and making it big. THat and AIM

AOL also bought out there main completing IM program which was ICQ so now aol owns AIM and ICQ the 2 biggest IM programs out there..

THat should cover my ranting for a while
