I had this idea that, when people on aim talk they abbreviate all the time. like ttyl, brb, lol, etc.... if a list is compiled of all of these shortcuts, when a user uses one the actual words typed out will be displayed. and if this feature was an option im people will like it even more.
I think that's a good idea... perhaps even a little utility where you could make or import your own personal lists, so everyone can customize it for their own personal text shortcuts?
for experience users in the world of instant messaging it saves time. but for some who are new, like talking to grandparents or parents, you say ttyl, they ask you what does that mean, or if there is a new abbreviation they dont pick up on it as fast as us younger folks do. do like i said for some this is an option to get rid of those pesky questions about what they stand for.
sounds like a load of diarrhea, cuz some people make their own up and when someone sends you "brb, gtg, g2g" you know what it means so whats the point to put the whole thing?
okokok...its an awesome idea BUT...people keep coming up with new abreviations. and they keep coming up AIM+ would have to update...well its just my thaugh and im just lettin ya know
I personally like the abbreviations. It saves time both typing and reading as mentioned. Now I hate it when people try and use alternate spellings: "how R U" etc. that gets under my skin but the abbreviations I like.
Its a cool idea as long as ou can customize what it says, like import your own abbreviations, plus, that would keep AIM+ from having to keep updating you you do it yourself.
actually, im a fan of oldskule and just having the bbl, gtg, etc.... if we did away with that, it would like change the 'internet lingo' thats been delicatly formed over the years.... lol
