Updating profile.htm outside of aim..

question:

i'm using a perl script to update profile.htm ... is there any way that i can reload profile.htm without restarting AIM?

im changing profile.htm with an external program.

can i make AIM reload the profile.htm automatically without going into AIM's profile editor?

I think you have to restart AOL unless u made changes using AIM because changing it externally wont "apply" it instantly instead u have to reinitiate the AIM software to force it to take ur edited profile.

Does Pearl Script work for profiles?

yes, but i know that the AIM profile editor (built in under the menu) can update it..

so perhaps i can just automatically access it somehow? help!

zaxory, i see what your sayin, and sorry, but there just isnt a shortcut to the profile editor in AIM. (at least not one that anyone knows about)

i think that this was suggested as a next version feature request for AIM+... and if it hasnt then that would be a good feature

like Ctrl+Shift+P would open the profile editor in AIM

well, i finished my program

i used the win32::ole and win32 modules and basically did sendkeys for

alt-m, p, alt-n, alt-n, alt-f to update the profile

i wrote a perl script to write my last playing winamp song to my AIM Profile....

Plasma, if you're confused, it's similar to what you can with VB API.

Nevertheless, isn't it a bit intrusive to have it press buttons when a song changes (or at an interval)? I just have a _SELF link in my profile to go to a .php on my webhost that parses it.

Also, what are you doing to make AIM the active window?

its not that bad..it takes maybe 1 second on my computer

and i just use the "x 0 w X's Buddy List" window...
